everyone but I had graduated or was working away from home.
The district could no longer run a bus for just me. For many years they had stored the bus in a big barn on the lodge property. The bus driver started his route from our place.
Since everyone was gone but my mother and I, my father asked Elva, who was doing very well for herself getting an art degree at San Jose State, to help relocate the family to San Jose.
My mother and I loved living out at the gun club, even alone. We were not afraid and spent the summer out there by ourselves, the two of us....it was so peaceful.
